Blizzard of '06

Well, we survived Searcy's Blizzard of '06. We had at one point a dangerous quarter of an inch of snow outside and some ice in places. But that's okay because we were ready!!!!

Walmart's shelves were close to bare Friday night. The bread isle had a few loaves of nutty-multi grain left and the canned veggies isle had some stewed tomatoes. There were about six gallons of skim milk left and the only bananas left were so no where near ready to eat.

I went twice that day (once with the kids to get soup fixins for dinner tonight and once with Jimmy to get two items I forgot.) The first time (around noon) a lady - her cart filled with milk, meat and frozen veggies - was irate because they were already out of lamp oil. My question for her was, "You want lamp oil because you anticipate a power outage ... but you're buying perishable foods. Hmmm?"

Friday night on the news they were interviewing a lady at the Searcy Walmart who said, "I expect to be stuck at home a few days so I came to get ... well, I mainly needed some cleaning supplies." Makes you wonder. It also makes me think, "How do they manage to find the most unintelligent people in the county to interview on television?" I SWEAR -- THERE ARE PEOPLE IN SEARCY WHO HAVE FULLY FUNCTIONING BRAINS!!!

We stayed in, not so much because we feared the wrath of winter outside, but because we feared the stupidity of southern drivers. Some friends from Michigan said the same thing.

I would have posted some cute picture of the kids in the snow ... but there wasn't enough to play in. Abby tried to make a snow angel but the snow was frozen. Oh well!
